From 4 to 8 June, the Department of Asian Language
held an event titled "Pushkin Week" on the occasion of the
birth of the great Russian poet Pushkin which was organized and supervised by
Dr. Ina Zarovna. As part of this event, the first year students of the Russian language were
introduced to the Russian-language stories of Pushkin which are translated into
Arabic, such as the Golden Fish, the Fisherman and others.
The students also learned about
Pushkin's poetry which is translated into Arabic and read some of the most
famous poems. In addition, the students listened to a lecture delivered by Dr.
Ina Zarovna entitled "Pushkin and the Arab world" and a poetry
contest was held on Pushkin poetry in a poetry session. The guest speaker was
the Head of the Department of Asian
Languages, Dr. Bagdagul Mussa.
