A Conference titled Jerusalem in Modern World Literature started yesterday in The Foreign Language College
under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Al Hassan Bin Talal, (his
representative Professor Adnan Badran attended on behalf of him). The conference aims
to celebrate the City as a symbol of peace, to explore the creative artistic
accounts of the City in different languages and literary narratives, to
highlight the position of the City as an icon of human co-existence, and to
emphasize the human-place bond as it relates to Jerusalem.
On the
sidelines of the conference, a photo exhibition was held on the royal visits to
Jerusalem and the role of the Hashemites in the reformation of Al-Aqsa mosque,
highlighting the Islamic and Christian religious monuments, handicrafts, the
commercial markets in Jerusalem and the suffering of Palestinians in the face
of the Zionist occupation.
