Workshop titled “How to Avoid the Most Common Grammatical and Structural Mistakes in Writing Essays”

The Students Advising Committee in the English Department at the University of Jordan held a workshop titled “How to Avoid the Most Common Grammatical and Structural Mistakes in Writing Essays”, which comes as part of the committee’s efforts to prepare students during the midterm exams period. The workshop, held on Microsoft Teams, was presented by Dr. Barkuzar Dubbati, moderated by Dr. Ghadeer Alhasan, and attended by more than 50 students. Dr. Dubbati discussed some of the most common mistakes made by English department students in answering essay questions, such as run-on sentences, fragmentation, and structurally flawed sentences. She presented students with ways in which they could avoid these errors and correct them and concluded the meeting with some Q&As. The workshop is part of a series of activities organized by the Students Advising Committee to respond to some of the academic issues students face and provide them with support and guidance.
