Tourism and Career Paths: Tourism Expert Shares Industry Insights at the University of Jordan

Amman, May 5, 2025 – The Russian Corner at the Faculty of Foreign Languages, University of Jordan, hosted an engaging session today as part of the “Career Preparation” course for fourth-year students. The event featured Ms. Arwa Mahadin, General Director of Taiki, a leading tourism company in Jordan, and a distinguished expert in international tourism.

Ms. Mahadin was accompanied by her assistant and interpreter, Mr. Jamal Abu Reden, a graduate of the university’s Russian language program. Their visit brought together not only students of Russian and Korean but also faculty members including Dr. Tatyana Glushchenko, Russian language professor, and Dr. Isra Hasan, Korean language lecturer.

In her speech, Ms. Mahadin shed light on current trends in the tourism industry and the growing demand for multilingual professionals, particularly those fluent in Russian and Korean. She emphasized how language proficiency can open doors to promising career opportunities in the tourism sector. Her presentation also addressed the rise in tourist flows from Russia and Korea, and the professional skills required to meet the evolving needs of the industry.

The session featured a vibrant multimedia presentation covering emerging forms of tourism in Jordan, such as eco-tourism, medical tourism, and cultural tourism. Students actively participated in an open discussion, asking practical questions about employment opportunities and career development in the field.

At the close of the event, students and faculty expressed their appreciation to Ms. Mahadin and Mr. Abu Reden for their valuable insights, practical guidance, and inspiring presence.
