Bachelor’s Degree in French Language and Literature / Program Overview

  • Background to the program and subject area:

The French Language Department was established as an independent department in the Faculty of Foreign Languages (formerly Arts) in 1997. The French Language Department aims at providing students with diverse backgrounds, detailed instructions, and multiple sources (texts, films, course tools). As a result, students at every stage of their study will be able to improve their language skills and expand their understanding of French culture. The areas of work for this specialization are: translation, business administration, tourism, and education.

    Achieving leadership and excellence in building a generation of fluent French speakers locally and regionally.
  • Mission statements of the program:

    Providing distinguished teaching methodologies and providing integrated training and application in the field of French language and literature. The program also aims to develop students' linguistic and intellectual skills to meet the requirements of the labour market and encourage understanding and communication between cultures.
  • Program Aims:

1.  Supplying the local and global labour market with a group of graduates specialized in French, and opening horizons for them towards a real and expanded world in response to the theories of modern globalization.

2.  Meeting the needs of the Jordanian community and the surrounding area forqualified and specialized personnel.

3.  Enhancing the Jordanian and Arab labour market with those qualified in the field of translation.

4.  Enhancing the Jordanian and Arab labour market with those qualified in the field of language.
