Program Specifications

Bachelor’s in Spanish and English / Program Overview

  • Background to the Program and Subject Area:

This program was launched in the academic year 2000-2001. Currently, the total number of students enrolled in the program is 578 students. Students are required to complete a total of 144 credit hours, of which 60% are specialized subjects in Spanish language and Spanish literature, and 40% are English language subjects.

  • Vision Statements of the Program:

The vision of the Spanish Language program is to achieve leadership and excellence in building a generation of language speakers in light of the challenges the related society faces.

  • Mission Statements of the Program:

Providing distinguished teaching methodologies and outstanding research that serves the comprehensive mission of the university as a research institution. This is achieved by creating a stimulating environment for education and intellectual creativity,  establishing cultural ties between Jordan and the rest of the world, particularly Spanish-speaking countries, in addition to forming effective strategic partnerships at the Arab and international levels.

  • Program Aims:

1.  Supplying the local and global labour market with a group of graduates specialized in the Spanish and English languages, and opening horizons for them towards a real and expanded world in response to the theories of modern globalization.

2.  Meeting the needs of the Jordanian community and the surrounding area forqualified and specialized personnel.

3.  Enhancing the Jordanian and Arab labour market with those qualified in the field of translation.

4.  Enhancing the Jordanian and Arab labour market with those qualified in the field of language.

5.  Achieving effective strategic partnerships at the local and global levels.
