Master in Translation (English-Arabic) / Program Intended Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the Master's program in Translation, the student should be able to:

  1. Apply advanced translation theories and methodologies to solve real-world challenges in translating specialized texts across various domains such as law, medicine, and media.
  2. Analyze linguistic, cultural, and contextual complexities in source and target texts to identify and address potential translation challenges.
  3. Evaluate translations using established quality assessment models, benchmarking linguistic accuracy, cultural appropriateness, and target audience expectations.
  4. Create specialized glossaries, terminologies, and translation resources for technical fields to enhance translation consistency and professionalism.
  5. Apply technology, including computer-assisted translation tools and machine translation systems, to enhance efficiency and maintain quality in translation tasks.
  6. Analyze intercultural communication dynamics to mediate effectively between diverse linguistic and cultural groups in multilingual contexts.
  7. Evaluate ethical considerations and professional standards in translation and interpreting, ensuring culturally sensitive and ethically sound practices.
  8. Create research projects or innovative solutions in translation studies that address current industry or academic challenges, contributing to the advancement of the field.
  9. Critically assess personal and peer translation work through reflective practices to support ongoing professional and academic development.
