The 25th Japanese Speech Contest took place at Wadi-Rum on March 5th, commemorating the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Jordan and Japan. The Dean of the School of Foreign Languages inaugurated the event, highlighting its dual significance: the 25th Annual Japanese Contest and the 70 years of diplomatic ties between the two nations. The President of JICA expressed gratitude to the university for hosting the contest and wished the contestants success. Ambassador Jiro Okuyama delivered the concluding speech, underscoring the importance of the event in celebrating seven decades of strong diplomatic relations. The contest featured nine participants reciting their favorite Japanese songs and delivering speeches on the theme “The thing about Jordan I want to convey now." Their speeches shed light on aspects of Jordanian life often unknown by the Japanese, including weddings, traffic, cuisine, and society. Additionally, there were performances on the traditional Japanese instrument “Koto" and musical presentations by students from the University of Jordan and Japanese international students.
