Conference entitled 'Mehmet Akif Ersoy and the Turkish National Anthem'

On Tuesday, 3/5/2024, the Turkish Language Section in the Department of Asian Languages at the Faculty of Foreign Languages at the University of Jordan held a conference entitled 'Mehmet Akif Ersoy and the Turkish National Anthem,' presented by Dr. Abdullah Demiral. This was in the presence of the Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey, Mr. Can Mutluer; the Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, Professor Dr. Adnan Al-Smadi; the Director of the Turkish Cultural Center Yunus Emre, Mr. Ansar Fırat; and the Head of the Department of Asian Languages, Dr. Dina Al-Salman, along with faculty members in the Turkish Language Section. The conference was opened with welcoming remarks by Dr. Bagdagul Mussa, Coordinator of the Turkish Language Section. A welcoming speech was then delivered by the Head of the Asian Languages Department, Dr. Dina Al-Salman, followed by a speech by the Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey, Mr. Can Mutluer. 

Next, Dr. Abdullah Demiral spoke about the life of the poet Mehmet Akif Ersoy and his role in Turkish literature. He also discussed the meanings and connotations of the Turkish national anthem in an interactive manner, with ten couplets of the anthem being read by students of the Turkish Language Section.

The event concluded with giving certificates of thanks and appreciation to Dr. Abdullah Demiral as the lecturer, the students who participated in reading the anthem, and the students from the organizing committee. A group photo was then taken, and Turkish sweet 'Lokum' was distributed.​
