A delegation from the Russian University of Volgagrad signs a cooperation agreement with the University of Jordan
As part of an official visit, in response to the invitation of the coordinator of the Russian section, Dr. Tatiana Glushchenko, the delegation visited the Russian Corner in the Asian Languages Department at the Faculty of Foreign Languages.
On Monday, May 15, 2023 the delegation of the Russian Medical University of Volgagrad consisting of the Academician Alexander Spasov, Director of the Department of International Relations Natalia Alshuk, Dean of Foreign Students Affairs Dmitry Ilyyanov, signed a cooperation agreement with the University of Jordan during a meeting attended by the Director of the Russian Cultural Center Alexei Bukin, deputy Mohammed Jamzat, the head of the Asian Languages Department, Dr. Bagdagul Mussa, Russian language professors Dr. Tatiana Glochenko, Dr. Ekaterina Fedoseva and Dr. Inna Zarovna.
The meeting was opened by the coordinator of the Russian section, Dr. Tatyana Glochenko, who welcomed all attendees and introduced them to the Bachelor's program in Russian and English, which was launched thanks to her efforts in 2010, with the support of the Embassy of the Russian Federation, subordinate to His Excellency the Russian Ambassador to Jordan at the time Alexander Kalugin and the presidency of the University of Jordan.
The launch of the Bachelor's program, which is still developing successfully and significantly, began with the invitation of professors for teaching Russian language to foreigners.
Since that date, 10 graduates have received grants from the Russian Cultural Center in Amman to obtain Master's degrees, and 5 Doctoral degrees in graduate schools in Russia.
Alexei Bukin, director of the Russian Cultural Center in Amman, also spoke about the plans and prospects for cooperation between the center and the Russian language department at the University of Jordan. Guests from Volgograd Medical University presented some of the programs offered by their university to teach Russian to foreigners. And briefed about the cooperation between their university and many universities around the world and its high scientific ranking at the international level.
Speakers from Volgagrad University stated that 270 Jordanian students are currently studying at their university, to obtain degrees in medicine, and return to work as successful and distinguished graduates in their home country, Jordan.
As for the Department of Languages at Volgagrad University, and throughout the year, the Department of Russian Language at the University of Jordan actively holds joint roundtables, conferences, workshops and online meetings for students - all of which are undoubtedly very useful and important.
At the end of the meeting, fourth-year students Obeida Khalifa and Zain Zarari from the University of Jordan recited Russian poems in their beloved language. This was followed by guests from Russia serving delicious Russian chocolates to all attendees.
As a kind gesture, Vice President of International Relations Natalia Alshuk presented a gift to the Russian corner of the University of Jordan. The gift was a very beautiful handmade Russian traditional headdress “Cocoshnik”, which was worn in the old days in Russia.
It was an unforgettable meeting for all attendees at the University of Jordan, which is always happy to host guests from everywhere.
