Today, the University of Jordan hosted the second round of the “Chinese Bridge” language competition, organized jointly by the Faculty of Foreign Languages, the Chinese Embassy, and the Chinese Cultural Center in Amman. The event was held under the patronage of the Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Marwan Al-Jarrah, and was attended by the Head of the Department of Asian Languages, Dr. Malek Sawalha, and the Chinese Language Section Coordinator, Dr. Yousef Khattaybeh.
Also in attendance were faculty members of the Chinese Language Section — both Jordanian and Chinese — who made tremendous efforts in preparing and ensuring the success of the competition, as part of their ongoing commitment to supporting Chinese language education and promoting cultural exchange.
The competition featured outstanding participation from students representing several academic institutions: the University of Jordan, Philadelphia University, Al-Ahliyya University, Yarmouk University, and the Confucius Institute (Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization).
The competition included a variety of segments, such as a Q&A portion on Chinese language and culture, as well as a three-minute speech presentation under the theme: “We Are One Family Under the Same Sky.”
The event witnessed a large turnout of Chinese language students and the families of participants, and was marked by an enthusiastic and friendly competitive spirit. At the conclusion of the competition, six students from the University of Jordan’s Chinese Language Department qualified for the final round, which will be held next week.
