The Department of Asian Languages organized on Sunday, 4/6/2023, a ceremony to announce the results of the translation contest held by the department on 24/5/2023, during which a total of 58 students from the four sections: (Turkish, Russian, Korean and Chinese) participated.
The ceremony was attended by the Vice Dean for Academic and Higher Studies Dr. Mohammed Nour AlSalem, in addition to directors and representatives of cultural centers and embassies, who sponsored the contest and presented prizes to the top three winners.
The ceremony began with a welcoming speech by the Head of the Department of Asian Languages, Dr. Bagdagul MUSSA, followed by speeches by the director of the Turkish Cultural Center Mr. Ensar FIRAT, the director of the Chinese Cultural Center Miss Shi Wei, and first secretary of the Korean Embassy Miss Maeng Sujin. The highlights of their speeches were encouraging phrases about the importance of translation in transferring different cultures, civilizations and sciences between languages. They also commended the efforts exerted by the department lecturers in enhancing and shaping the translation skills of students.
After that, certificates and prizes were presented to the top three winners, certificates of participation for all students who took part in the contest were distributed, letters of appreciation were presented to the lecturers honoring their role as committee members who evaluated the results of the contest, and certificates of appreciation to all four sponsoring organizations.
