The Turkish Language Section at the Department of Asian Languages/ School of Foreign Languages/ The University of Jordan held an event to honor the winners of the Turkish-language short story competition on November 23, 2023, under the patronage of the Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, Dr. Adnan Al-Smadi, which was organized by the Head of the Department of Asian Languages, Dr. Bagdagul Mussa. The event was attended by Mr. Ensar FIRAT, Director of Yunus Emre Turkish Cultural Center, and Mr. Veysi Kaya, Director of the Turkish Waqf of Knowledge, as well as Mr. Abdulrahman Soylu, Coordinator of the Turkish Coordination and Cooperation Agency (TIKA), and the instructors of the Turkish Language Section, Dr. Abdullah DEMİRAL, Dr. Utku Mehmet ÖDEN, Dr. Selmin KUŞ SALEHİ, Ms. Fatima Al-Fatainet, and Ms. Bara'a Ahmad.
Dr. Bagdagul Mussa opened the event with a welcoming speech to the esteemed guests, followed by a speech from Dr. Adnan Al-Smadi, in which he expressed his happiness with the interest of Turkish institutions in Jordan in the Turkish Language Section and praised their efforts to develop the section. He also talked about future projects between the University of Jordan and Turkish institutions in Jordan and praised the students of the Turkish Language Section for choosing to learn Turkish at this time due to its importance.
The event also included a speech by Mr. Ensar FIRAT, Director of Yunus Emre Turkish Cultural Center, in which he talked about the importance of learning languages in general and the importance of learning Turkish for Jordanians due to the shared history and culture between the two countries. Mr. FIRAT also introduced the students to Yunus Emre Turkish Cultural Center and the services and courses it offers in general and for students of the Turkish Language Section in particular. Afterwards, Mr. Ferhat TAMKOÇ, Academic Coordinator at Yunus Emre Turkish Cultural Center, spoke about the nature and diversity of the courses offered at the center and the events held there in general.
The event concluded with the distribution of prizes for the short story competition held in the summer semester of the academic year 2022-2023 by the Turkish Language Section, and the winners and participants were honored, followed by a group photo.
