Amid the dearth of research on morphological variation in Jordanian Arabic, graduate student Farah Alkalabani has conducted a variationist study of compounds in Amman, discussing the influence of social factors on these compound variants and their social meanings as part of her master’s thesis.
The study, conducted under the supervision of Dr. Abdelrahman Altakhaineh, makes several noteworthy contributions to the field of morphological variation, expanding variationist research in Arabic, which has been largely restricted to phonological and syntactic variables.
