The School of Foreign Languages Organizes an Introductory Workshop in Collaboration with the German DAAD Organization, Focusing on the Academic Scholarship, Training Opportunities, and Research Grants Offered by the German Government to University Faculty

The School of Foreign Languages at the University of Jordan, in cooperation with the DAAD, held an introductory workshop on the organization’s work and the academic and professional opportunities it provides to students, the academic community, and faculty members. This workshop aligns with the directives of the Dean of the School, Dr. Marwan Al-Jarrah, to prepare students for the job market and implement his vision of integrating career readiness into the School’s curriculum.

The workshop, led by Dr. Mais Al-Shara’h, Vice Dean for Partnerships and Career Readiness Affairs, included a detailed presentation by Ms. Rahma Al-Torah, the organization’s representative, on DAAD’s role in promoting cultural and academic exchange between Germany and Jordan. She also highlighted the academic and professional qualifications and scholarships the organization supports for those interested in scientific research and academic development, especially for those seeking to pursue graduate studies in both scientific and literary fields in Germany.

The workshop featured a segment on the significance of academic cooperation between the Organization and the School, presented by Dr. Nadia Naqrash. Additionally, experiences were shared by two students from the School who received scholarships through the DAAD.

Ms. Rahma Al-Torah also discussed training opportunities, academic resources, and various scholarships beneficial to all University students, such as those available for engineering and medical students. She shared her experience with employment opportunities in Jordan as an alumni from the School of Foreign Languages with a degree in German and English studies.

Employment opportunities available to language certificate holders from the Organization’s partnering institutes, as well as job prospects within DAAD, were also discussed. The event concluded with remarks from the School’s own faculty member, Mrs. Sarah Saleh, who shared her experience as a recipient of a scholarship from DAAD.

The workshop saw significant interest among students, who raised numerous questions about the academic programs and scholarships offered by the Organization, as well as studying in Germany, reflecting their eagerness to benefit from available academic and professional development opportunities.
