Department of French Language and Literature Celebrates Francophonie Day

As part of Francophonie Days, the Department of French Language and Literature at the University of Jordan organized a special celebration on Thursday, April 10, 2025, under the patronage of H.E. Professor Nathir Obeidat, President of the University, and under the supervision of the cultural committee represented by Dr. Amal Khaleefa and Dr. Isabelle Bernard.

The event was attended by several ambassadors from French-speaking countries, representatives of French cultural institutes in Jordan, as well as francophone colleagues and students from the University of Jordan and Al al-Bayt University.

The program featured a variety of activities prepared and presented by students from the department — including video screenings, theatrical scenes, poetry readings, and interactive competitions — all reflecting the students' linguistic proficiency and creative spirit.

Several faculty members also participated in a French-language academic panel on inclusive education for visually impaired learners. On this occasion, the department received its first French story printed in Braille, dedicated to its students, in a special initiative by the cultural committee.

Participating students received certificates of appreciation presented by Professor Dr. Nahed Emaish, Vice President for Humanities Faculties Affairs.

This event reflects the Department of French Language and Literature's commitment to engaging with the Francophone world and its ongoing efforts to equip students with advanced linguistic and cultural skills through innovative and interactive educational activities that open up promising academic and professional opportunities.
