​The research project titled "Building a Child Language Corpus of Vernacular Jordanian Arabic," conducted by Dr. Marwan Jarrah from the Department of English Language and Literature at the University of Jordan, has received financial support of eight thousand Jordanian Dinars from the Deanship of Scientific Research. This research aims to provide reliable data for scholars and students interested in developmental linguistics, language variation, and first language acquisition. The research findings will contribute to improving the quality of related articles and books and enable researchers to study various linguistic variables and phenomena. This will facilitate understanding the development and changes in Jordanian vernacular Arabic and comparing it with other Arabic dialects and world languages.

The University of Jordan's School of Foreign Languages has achieved international accreditation through "Evalag" for four of its programs. These accredited programs encompass the Applied English Language Program, the English Language and Literature Program, the French Language and Literature Program, and the Spanish and English Languages Program. Evalag is dedicated to enhancing the quality of higher education by meticulously developing, implementing, and evaluating standards. Its purview extends to evaluating academic programs, assessing institutional internal quality, and ensuring adherence to national and international higher education standards.

​The Bachelor's programs in English Language and Literature, as well as Applied English, have been placed within the National Qualifications Framework. Aligning bachelor's programs with this framework is a significant step in ensuring the quality of higher education and aligning academic qualifications with the demands of the labor market. This alignment aims to establish standardized criteria that define the levels of knowledge, skills, and competencies graduates should possess. Through this process, it is ensured that academic programs meet national standards and effectively prepare students for future job requirements, thereby enhancing the competitiveness of graduates both locally and internationally.

Stanford Elsevier Top Researchers List of the world’s best researchers included faculty member in the Department of English Language and Literature at the School of Foreign Languages, Professor Dr. Yousef Abu Amrieh, among the top 2% of scientists in the world, according to the annual report it issued for the year 2024.

Professor Abu Amrieh obtained his PhD from the University of Manchester, UK, in 2011. He is the founder and leader of an international research group on Arab diasporic literary studies whose membership includes researchers from the US, UK, and Germany.
Professor Abu Amrieh published approximately 80 peer-reviewed papers in international journals. He is also a member of the editorial boards of many literary studies journals. 

This list, using Scopus data provided by Elsevier, aims to provide a standardized way to recognize researchers who have made a significant impact on their respective fields. It draws from a variety of citation metrics, such as the h-index, co-authorship, and adjusted citation counts, to ensure fair and balanced representation of researchers. The list is updated annually, with career-long data and single-year impacts for transparency and current relevance.
